Ugolino Inspires Imagination House
It was the smells that got mE…
…as Jen and I walked along a dusty, forgotten pilgrim’s trail. Remnants of medieval gardens had grown wild around an abandoned castle ruin. Aromas of sage, thyme, and mint mixed with the sweet perfume of yellow ginestra in bloom.
I surrendered to an imagination flight of fancy. Wouldn’t we have regrets if we bought something so neglected, so impractical? But wouldn’t our regrets be greater when we wondered about what might have been?
Now, over 20 years later, I know that I couldn’t have written Imagination House without Castiglione Ugolino. It turned out to be the inspiration I needed to write my book.
In 2019 Lee Walker published his first book, Imagination House: An Entrepreneurial Life. As author Stephen Harrigan has written, “Lee Walker’s memoir of entrepreneurship is not just a business book…it’s also a kind of handbook about how to live a life that makes room for daring and modesty.”
An audio version of Imagination House recorded by the author is now also available on Amazon. In this audio excerpt from the book, Lee explains how his family’s place in Ugolino helped to inspire the book itself.
